Actually, KTM has a newer, larger ADV model than the 1190 Adventure. The 1290 Super Adventure has taken over this mantle, as it includes a larger 7.9-gallon gasoline tank, WP semi-active suspension, cruise control, and a plethora of other amenities (with the exception of a shaft final drive).
This kit contains 4 Coolant hoses and fits KTM 1290 Super Adventure S ** OEM Design ** model years 2017-2020. KTM.
Concluding Thoughts. As you can see, KTM went all-out when designing the 1290 Super Adventure R. More than just an 1190 with a bigger engine, the combined upgrades turn the 1290 into, arguably, the king of the pack when it comes to large-displacement, mega-adventure bikes.
The Black Dog KTM 1290 is set up with a mixture of rubber, utilizing the Continental TKC80 in the front and a Heidenau K60 Scout in the rear. This is a popular combination among seasoned Adventure Riders, giving the confidence of a true-knobby tire in the front with the longer wear and still-impressive grip of the Heidenau in the rear.
What a beast, I thought to myself as I put my first few miles on the 2022 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. In retrospect, that thought kind of made sense given the fact that the mill tucked beneath the 1290’s new tank design is an iteration of the Super Duke’s 1301cc V-Twin – the naked bike dubbed by KTM marketing folks as “the beast.” And beastly it is. With its 131-horsepower V-twin, cornering ABS (the first motorcycle to offer this important safety innovation), multiple engine, traction control, and ABS modes, semi-active suspension, tire
Wet weight another 30 lbs or so with all your fluids. The 1090 makes a peak 127 hp the 1290 160 hp. In off road mode they are both limited to 100 hp. The 1290 a little more peaky in performance the 1090 more tractable. The big big difference is street available HP and the electronics packages on the bike.
V-Twins I have owned. Suzuki DL-1000, Honda RC51, KTM 990, SMR, and KTM 1290 Superduke R. I was a little disappointed with the KTM 990 engine. It was much newer than my RC51 but the RC51 was a stronger motor. Not so with the 1290. A stock 1290 is a monster and with a Power Commander, a full exhaust, and a custom dyno tune even crazier.
Mon, 11 Feb 2013. THERE'S a small amount of confusion when it comes to the differences between KTM's 1190 Adventure and the 1190 Adventure R. It's not just a case of different graphics and slightly larger wheel sizes. There's a clue to the differences in KTM's own words: "With the new 1190 Adventure and R there is a more definite distinction
