RollingMomentum 27.5-inch wheels provide adequate travelling momentum but are less adept at traversing obstacles compared to their 29-inch counterparts. Anotherthing about 27.5" being very close to 26", is that they are easy to get moving from a standstill. That's the biggest knock against 29" IMO, as well as tough in tight switchbacks As far as 29" gearing, I converted mine to "ghetto 2X10" by removing big ring and replacing with bash, and swapping stock middle ring with 30T. Mostimportantly, a 24-inch bike for adults refers to the wheel size, not the frame size. For kids, 24-inch bikes are typically suitable for those between 4’1β€³ and 4’9β€³ or 7 to 11 years old. For adults, frame size is the key determinant of fit, and wheel size is an important factor influencing ride characteristics. HiJohn. The wheel size referred to as 29β€³ or as a ’29er’ on modern mountain bikes is in fact an ISO 622 wheel. The name is due to the outside diameter of a mountain bike tire mounted on that rim being approximately 29 inches. This is the same reason an ISO 559mm rim is called 26β€³, even though 559mm is nowhere close to 26 inches. 275 and 29 Plus (Mid-Fat): Improved Traction and Stability. A β€œplus” or mid-fat bike has tires that are wider than traditional ones (2 to 2.5 inches) but narrower than fat bike tires (4 to 5 inches). Designs that fall into this category utilize both 27.5-inch and 29-inch wheels, although the former is the far more popular option at the moment. Thedifference is that the Giant Stance 29 2 uses 29-inch tires, and the larger tires mean it rides relatively better. The Giant Stance 29 2 has a higher standover height and a larger Stack/Reach ratio. This gives you a relatively higher riding position and a more comfortable ride. 2022 Giant Stance VS 2023 Marin Rift Zone 26β€³ 26inch – Pump track, dirt jump riding, kids’ MTBs; 27.5-inch – Experienced downhill riders and smaller riders (under 5’9β€³) 29-inch – Enduro, cross-country, trail riding, beginners, and taller riders 6’+ How 26vs. 27.5 vs. 29 bikes – How do they differ? 26” Mountain Bikes; 27.5” or 650B Mountain Bike; 29er Mountain Bike. 26 vs. 27.5 vs. 29 diameter; 26 vs. 27.5 vs. 29 for short riders; 26 vs. 27. 5 vs. 29 for cross country; 26 vs. 27.5 vs. 29 Enduro; 5 vs. 29 Single-Track; 26 vs. 29 Hardtail and Full Suspension; Compare See more Ilike 27.5, but the trend is definitely towards 29. I don't find them unstable at speed at all, especially if my body positioning is correct. And I like the improved cornering and agility. Most of the trails I ride are narrow and have lots of berm free corners, so the handling of a 27.5 bike works really well. nfhA5.
